Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and FuoriConcorso

Luxury cars have started their engines on Lake Como!
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este took place from May 19 to 21 2023 with participation of classic car enthusiasts, leading personalities from the Como area, collectors, restorers and professionals in the field. The highlight of the event was the Parade on Sunday: all vehicles participating in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este paraded through the Spazio Villa Erba to be admired in all their splendor.

There were more than 50 cars in the competition which was divided into 8 categories. On Saturday the prestigious Coppa d’Oro was awarded, a prize voted by the public for the most beautiful car. The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Spyder California won the Coppa d’Oro del Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023: a unique vehicle with a short wheelbase and bodywork by Pininfarina and Scaglietti.

On Sunday May 21 two other important awards were assigned; the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for concept cars and prototypes which was won by the 2022 Pagani Huayra Codalunga, and the BMW Group Trophy – Best of Show which was won by the Duesenberg SY Speedster from 1935.

FuoriConcorso Open Museum

Concurrently with the main competition, the equally wonderful location of Villa Olmo hosted the prestigious FuoriConcorso Open Museum: an exclusive event celebrating automotive culture in some of the most fascinating places in the world. This year the FuoriConcorso was the occasion for the luxury car brand Porsche to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

Villa Olmo with its marvelous park overlooking the first basin of Lake Como, was the perfect setting for Porsche to exhibit some of the most impressive and iconic cars of the last 75 years. Said Mr Achim Stejskal, Head of Porsche Heritage and Museum of Porsche AG: “We are not only bringing an exciting assortment of historic sports cars to FuoriConcorso but also so-called dreamer stories. This incredible atmosphere is the ideal setting for introducing the fans to people who helped writing the success story of our brand with their dreams and ventures.”

Once again the city of Como and its exclusive lake represent the perfect place to further enhance luxury brands in the automotive sector!
