Villa Lugarna, Menaggio

Situated in a panoramic and tranquil position above Menaggio, Villa Lugarna was commissioned by Mr Alfred Wyatt, a British merchant and built in 1910 by the famous architect Mantegazza. Mr. Wyatt chose to have the villa built next to the Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf Club, established in 1906, and with the objective of recreating a familiar British setting, he had English landscape architects and gardeners work on the park creating a magnificent atmosphere with artificial ponds and cascades perfectly integrated in the garden. The original tennis court can be reinstated and there is ample space for the construction of a swimming pool within the mature park of 25,000 sqm. Private wells on the grounds supply water to the ponds and cascades as well as drinking water. The entire property ensures maximum privacy and tranquillity and offers breathtaking views of Lake Como, Monte Grona, Monte Legnone and the Swiss and Italian Alps.
The main villa of approx. 800 sqm is set on 3 floors plus basement and impresses with a spectacular and noble ambience throughout. All rooms and terraces enjoy spectacular views of Lake Como, the mountains or the private park.
