Il faro Voltiano

To get on the Volta lighthouse, a short walk from the arrival of the Brunate cable car, is an incredible and unique experience.

Open only certain days of the week and mostly on weekends .

From the top you can enjoy a panoramic view and especially if you’re lucky enough to be the only one there the special sensation is even stronger.
You can see from the madonnina of the Duomo of Milan to the Swiss Alps, from Mont Blanc to the mountains over Bellagio.
It was designed by the engineer Giussani in 1927 to celebrate the centenary of the death of Alessandro Volta, Italian physicist well known worldwide for his work and experiments in electricity and for inventing the first electric battery.
It is 29 meters high, has a spiral staircase with 143 steps and emits a tricolor light that can be seen up to 50 kilometers away and lights the Como’s nights.
Inside the lighthouse you can find a plaque dedicated to the genius of Alessandro Volta in which there is a bust of him in his old age.
