A night at the Baradello Castle

You can see it as soon as you arrive in Como, it overlooks the city and protects it: the Baradello Castle! Built during the Middle Ages as a watchtower with clear defensive purposes, today the “Baradello” (as it is commonly called by people from Como) is a vantage point over the city of Como, absolutely not to be missed. From the top of its tall tower you can enjoy a superb view of Como and the lake, but also of the Alps surrounding the city and, on clear days, the Po Valley.

How to reach the Baradello Castle

The Baradello is located in the Spina Verde Park and can be reached by following one of the paths of various length, depending on which areas of this wonderful natural park you want to explore. The quickest way to reach the Tower is to start from Piazza Camerlata following the cobblestone path and in less than 45 minutes you will arrive at the Castle.

The Tower is set on two floors and displays a number of findings at the Baradello and dating back to the period of its fortification, period costumes and objects that belonged to persons who influenced the history of Como. Ascending the Tower you will to reach its top, from which the 360° panorama can be enjoyed!

Guided tours of the Baradello Tower are organized on bank holidays from April to October and the duration of the visit is about 30 minutes. Booking your visit in advance and purchasing the entrance ticket directly from the Parco Spina Verde website here is recommended.

A night at the castle? At Baradello it is possible!

The Baradello offers a special and exciting experience; a guided night tour! With a torch in your hand when darkness falls, you will cross the the woods and reach the castle hill. You will experience the thrill when the guide is opening the doors of the Castle, and you will learn about its history, hidden secrets within the walls and its mysterious legends. It is also possible to climb to the top of the Baradello Tower to experience the thrill of being suspended between the sky and the woods at night, admiring the lights of the city and their reflections on the waters of Lake Como.

It is a unique experience to discover the Baradello Castle and the city of Como in a magical and mysterious atmosphere provided by the darkness.

The night visit to the Baradello is organized every Saturday evening, starting from mid-April until the end of October at the price of 15 euros. We recommend this experience in May and June, when temperatures are mild and the crowds are smaller.
